Could this Good News Get Any Better?
Has the world worn you down? Are you weary? The enemy particularly likes to pounce at these times. He looks for any door that might be open even a crack.
Did you drop the ball at your job, or with your kids? He heaps on shame insisting that you are completely incapable.
Your pants don’t fit? There is a list of “should have and shouldn’t have done” things that confirm your inadequacies.
Overwhelmed with the poor decisions of loved ones? “If you were only a better Christian that person wouldn’t be where they are?”
Are you feeling overlooked again? The enemy is just waiting to convince you that there MUST be something inherently wrong with you.
We have to choose to believe about ourselves the very same things that the Lord says about us. Anything contrary to His word is deception. You are invited to believe exactly what God says about you.
God will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm your fears (and not mention your past sins). He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. Zeph 3:3
Don’t miss this. God delights in YOU. In the you that is right where you are at this very moment. His love actually will and can calm your fears. He isn’t going to mention those past sins. And he REJOICES over you.
He cares that you messed up at work or with the kids but not because he wants to shame you, instead there is just something about his character that He is inviting you to learn. When you know more about Him it will shift your heart and mind and your actions will follow.
Are you struggling with self-image? He would love to tell you about how he sees you. (And I promise you it is loving and not harsh.)
Is your heart broken over a loved one? His is too. And He is the Savior, you aren’t called to be. Lean in and trust Him with your loved one.
Are you discouraged by man and feel pushed away, ask Him how he feels about you and how He sees your situation.
And to take this extremely good news one step further Psalm 3:3 says, “But you O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high.”
God who created us (and the universe) is with us. He is our shield against the attack of the enemy and He lifts our heads when we are overwhelmed with shame.
He has your face gently in his hands and he is saying to you:
I choose you and dearly love you. (Col. 3:12)
I am your safe and secure place, I will strengthen you. (Ps. 144:1)
I bless you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
You are my child. (1 Thess. 5:5 and 1 John 3:1)
We are family. (Romans 12:15)
You are the light of the world. (Matt. 5:14)
You are a new creation. The old is gone the new has come. (2 Cor. 2:16)
You have the mind of Christ. (1 Cor. 2:16)
You don’t need to worry I am taking care of you. (Luke 12:22-26)
This world can often seem like a raging sea and it can feel as though we have lost our way in the vast waves. But this is not at all true. We are not adrift all alone. We are not left to fend for ourselves. We have a Father who loves us dearly and has gone to great lengths to make way for us to be in a relationship with Him. He wants to help us and guide us. He is trustworthy and true.
If you are feeling adrift I want to offer a different picture. He is the mother hen who opens her wings for her chicks to run under when they are scared. You are invited to run to Him. We were never meant to navigate this world alone and He loves for us to come to Him.
